Key:
O: Organic, grown without synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, genetic engineering. USDA certified organic wines are also processed without adding sulfites, a common allergen. European certified organic wines have fewer sulfites than conventional.
B: Biodynamic is organic, plus: No animal by-products, and follows lunar and solar cycles. Look for Demeter Association Certified.
L: LIVE, from Oregon, uses beneficial insects rather than pesticides.
SS: Salmon Safe is either organic, or IPM (uses pesticides only as last resort), and growing methods keep runoff out of water bodies.
Fair Trade Certified: These wines, and others bearing the Fair Trade Certified seal, are produced in humane conditions by workers paid a living wage
